What species can I catch on the Yakima River?
Our trips target Rainbow trout, Cutthroat trout, and Mountain Whitefish. These species thrive throughout the Yakima River, Washington’s only blue ribbon trout fishery, and provide consistent opportunities across the season.

What’s included in a trip?
Each trip includes room for up to two guests (e.g you, friend and I), tackle, flies, rod/reel (if needed/requested), life vests, light snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, waders/wading boots (with proper notice). For specific details, see the below FAQs
Do I need to bring my own fly fishing gear?
Guests are welcome to bring their own fly-rods, reels, etc. If you don't have any gear or would prefer to test out other equipment, I always bring a variety of rods ranging from Orvis and Sage to Redington. All of my reels are either Redington, Sage or Ross. All flies, tackle (tippet, leaders, etc) are included at no extra cost.
Do I need to bring my own waders and boots?
Generally in the summer, we wet wade, meaning we're rocking shorts and wading boots due to the Eastern Washington Heat. During the shoulder seasons (March-May and September-October), I'll generally be wearing wading pants or full waders. Please let me know 5 days in advance for the trip if you need waders and/or boots, I have a limited selection of gear but can always source more with proper notice.
*Important* No studded boots in the drift boat, it absolutely destroys the deck
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, a valid Washington state fishing license is required for all anglers fishing with on the Yakima River. Licenses are not included and should be purchased before your trip.
Are your trips are family friendly?
Yes, all trips with are family friendly and suitable for beginners. However, the minimum age for children is 6 years old, and you will be required to provide a properly sized life vest for kids.
What is the best time of year for fly fishing on the Yakima River?
The best fly fishing on the Yakima River typically runs from March through May before runoff and irrigation demands start to peak and then from late August to October after the "flop" occurs, when the water management shifts to the Tieton.
What should I bring on trip?
Guests should bring a fishing license, weather-appropriate clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, and drinks. I recommend dressing in layers to stay comfortable throughout the day, the boat also has a decent amount of water-tight storage as well.
